Event Description

An Intimate Conversation with

Rémi Bolduc talks (and plays) JAZZ

Imperial Theatre — Friday, February 11 at 7 p.m.

This is a chance for jazz buffs and newcomers alike to get up close and personal with one of Canada’s leading saxophone players, bandleaders and music educators. We will all gather on the stage of the Imperial Theatre with Rémi Bolduc, his instrument and his pianist for a talk and demonstration on the art of jazz.

Lovers of this music, which Duke Ellington famously described as “being like the kind of a man you wouldn’t want your daughter to associate with,” will get new insights into the shape and structure of the music M. Bolduc is bringing to the stage on Saturday night. People who have never really experienced jazz, or who aren’t too sure if they “get” it, will have a whole world of musical possibilities opened up to them.

The maximum number of participants is 50 people, so there will be time for questions and conversation.

Attending this intimate talk is also a great warm-up to the Saturday night performance of Rémi Bolduc Jazz Ensemble’s Tribute to Charlie Parker.

Rémi Bolduc has played with renowned jazz musicians such as Kenny Werner, Ben Monder, Seamus Blake, Vic Vogel and Lorraine Desmarais and he teaches at both McGill and Concordia Universities.

Visit the Artist’s website: http://www.stationbleue.com/artistes.e/bolducjazzensemble_re.php

At Imperial Theatre Friday, February 11 at 7 p.m. $5 for the talk only or FREE with tickets to Rémi Bolduc Jazz Ensemble’s Tribute to Charlie Parker. Tickets can be purchased online at www.imperialtheatre.nb.ca, by visiting Imperial Theatre Box Office, or by calling 674-4100 (or 1-800-323-7469 for out-of-town callers).
