Simone Ritter: A Night at the Theatre

Imperial Theatre Exhibition Committee (ITEC) presents the beautifully detailed, creative paintings of Saint John artist Simone Ritter.
Since early childhood, Simone Ritter has had a passion for creating. After moving from Germany to Canada in 2000, she began painting in watercolours as well as various other media.
Titled A Night at the Theatre, Simone Ritter’s work, which includes a variety of portraits and landscapes, are bold in colour and are inspired by the excitement that everyday life grants us. Her portraits of dancers, musicians and various other artists capture the body's natural movements, while her land and seascapes feature the stunning natural beauty and marvellous coastlines of the Maritimes.
For Simone Ritter, the art of painting has been an incredible journey discovering a new dimension to life, and the grandness that is created and displayed all around us. “Art is wonderful as it does not differentiate age, status, race, health, time and place. Art is there for everyone to enjoy!” she shared.
Inspired by the wonderful opportunity given to her to display her artwork at Imperial Theatre throughout the busy holiday season, Simone Ritter said her inner eye was filled with movement, colour and expression. With shows in mind that vary from ballet to vocal performances, contemporary dance to theatrical plays, Simone Ritter built a theme that unites each painting.

A Night at the Theatre is a vibrant collection of works, which will remain on display in Imperial Theatre’s main lobbies until January 16, 2012 and can be viewed during regular Box Office hours, as well as on performance nights.
