The Lost War: 1776-1783 exhibition at the New Brunswick Museum at New Brunswick Museum, 1 Market Square, Saint John, NB, E2L4Z6

January 23, 2015 at 9am to January 30, 2015 at 5pm
New Brunswick was created out of the western portion of Nova Scotia in 1784 as a result of the American War of Independence. Many had opposed rebellion. More than 500,000 of these Tories or Loyalists existed at one time or another but most chose to remain part of American society. For others, at least 60,000, exile was the only alternative. In 1783, over 30,000 boarded vessels in New York for Nova Scotia and nearly half of these came to what is now New Brunswick in spring, summer and fall…See More

Future Fossil Tools: Early Explorations exhibition at the New Brunswick Museum at New Brunswick Museum Exhibition Centre, 1 Market Square, Saint John, E2L4Z6

January 23, 2015 at 9am to January 25, 2015 at 5pm
New Brunswick artist Carol Taylor continues her exploration of the interaction between geological processes and human presence. The exhibition is the further development of artistic concepts first shown at the NBM in 2011. In the original exhibition, Carol Taylor conceived of Future Fossils as artworks that considered the continuum of geological processes in combination with vestiges of human presence. An aspect of her inquiry was inspired by a group of antique and vintage tools from her own…See More

1812: The New Brunswick Story exhibition at the New Brunswick Museum at New Brunswick Museum, 1 Market Square, Saint John, NB, E2L4Z6

January 23, 2015 at 9am to January 30, 2015 at 5pm
On June 18, 1812 the United States declared war on Britain and placed His Majesty’s colonies in British North America (now Canada) in peril. Already fighting a life and death struggle with Napoleon, Britain had no desire for a conflict on two fronts. The United States, on the other hand, felt their young independence threatened by a British embargo on American trade with France, the seizure of British deserters on U.S. vessels at sea and action to prevent American westward expansion. The war…See More

Stonehammer Geopark contains some of the most extensively documented landscapes in New Brunswick.  For more than 200 years artists and photographers have taken inspiration from the magnificent vistas and natural wonders that abound. January 23, 2015 at 9am to January 30, 2015 at 5pm
Fossil Hunter is an interactive exhibit developed by the New Brunswick Museum. Based on a true story of New Brunswick geologist, Will Matthew, it recounts the true story of a curious young teenage boy, the son of noted fossil expert George Matthew.  Will discovered the largest trilobite fossil in the world, over 100 years ago in Saint John. The fossil of the crab-like creature was about 500 million years old and was one of New Brunswick’s most important discoveries. The exhibit is packed with…See More
