Live Life

Have you ever had a piece of jewellery in mind with a certain symbol or style that you cannot find anywhere?
Sometimes if you've exhausted all of your options, having a piece custom made is the way to go. Some people assume that custom=expensive but this is not always the case.

Here at Handworks we see a lot of couples looking for non traditional engagement rings and wedding bands. Prices for these kinds of rings can vary from 49.00- up to 4900.00 depending on how elaborate you wish to get. The best thing about custom designed pieces is that they are completely made for you, and are one of a kind. The process can even be a lot of fun. One of our jewelers from Pennfield, Letang Studios (www.letangstudios.com) excel at doing custom work. They can create anything you can dream up out of silver, or gold, with any combination of stones. The process begins with a questionnaire to be filled out that gives the artist some insight into the customer's likes and special stories surrounding the piece they want created. The result is four or more sketches done as a preview of the work, which are narrowed down by the customer to get it just right.

Another option for custom design is to request an alteration to a design that is already in store. A piece made of sterling silver can often be recreated in white gold. Metals can be mixed or changed quite easily. Stones are often interchangeable so long as the artist can source the desired item. Quotes are available beforehand to make sure it fits your budget.

Bridal Jewellery & Sizing

Many artists are open to creating something new just for you based on your colour, size and price preferences. Brides often will have sets of pendants and earrings created for their bridesmaids to match the colours in the dresses. Bands can be made in any size to fit any finger. The sky is really the limit when it comes to custom requests.

Did you know that many of our jewellers make cuff bracelets, bangles and chain styles in sizes small, medium and large? It helps to get the right fit, and if we don't have your size here it can always be ordered. Earrings can be made with a regular hook, a stud or even for non pierced ears. Pendants can easily be switched to shorter or longer chains, and full necklaces are often made in two or three varying lengths.

When it comes to jewellery, be sure to ask about customization options to make sure you get the look you want. You might be able to finally end that search for the perfect piece.
