Dance IT! Act IT! Sing IT! Rock IT!

Professional Training for Tomorrow’s Performing Artists

Not just another summer program, Imperial Theatre’s Performing Arts Schools bring together passionate professional instructors with young artists in a series of schools designed to nurture talent and creativity. We offer our students the opportunity to work with some of Canada’s most respected performers and teachers in their fields, and also the thrill of performing on the Imperial stage!

Classes run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, with drop off available from 8:15 a.m. and pickup until 5:30 p.m.

Dance IT (Monday, July 4 — Saturday, July 16) provides high-quality dance instruction by respected professional dancers. Students ages 6 to 18, assigned to groups based on skill level, will participate in an intensive program under the direction of Sylvia Logan, Royal Academy of Dance teacher and Artistic Director of Rothesay Ballet School, who will be joined by dancers and dance instructors well-known locally and on the world-stage. Cost: $375 to $400

Act IT (Monday, July 18—Friday, July 29) is a fun but intense program for grades 5 to 12, encouraging students’ skills, confidence and creativity in a structured and challenging environment with qualified and talented instructors. Shane MacMillan, well-known local teacher and director of Act IT since 1999, has assembled a team of instructors to offer a full range of theatre experiences. Actor/educator Christopher Fowler, playwright/director SG Lee and singing teacher Terry-Lynn Russell will offer students a well-rounded program of theatre skills including drama, improvisation, musical theatre and more. Cost: $400

Sing IT (Monday, July 18—Friday, July 29) is intended for anyone who enjoys singing. Sing IT offers the perfect opportunity to work with professional instructors who will guide students who have had formal training and those who simply want to explore and enhance their vocal range. Singers will receive individual, ensemble and musical theatre training. Director Christopher Lane (performer, choir director, organist and teacher) is joined by accomplished performer/instructor Terri-Lynn Russell. Cost: $400

Rock IT (Monday, July 25—Friday, August 5) offers aspiring rock musicians ages 12 to 18 professional education in a structured and creative environment with some of the industry’s leading indie artists, including Luther Mallory, Mary Stewart, Chuck Teed, Malcolm Boyce and Jason Vautour. Rock IT focuses on refining guitar, bass, drum and vocal skills, instrument techniques and methodology, song writing and most importantly how to work and play with a band. Cost: $400.
