New Virtual College Tackles Developer Shortage
An innovative college is tackling a problem facing numerous information technology companies throughout North America.
Mike McGraw, President of the Atlantica Centre for the Arts says “The Mobile App market is enormous today and is growing at an astounding rate. Smartphones and Tablets are taking a larger and larger share of people's entertainment time, prompting a development arms race to get useful and fun apps to market.”
“There is a need to train programmers and mobile application developers for the information technology industry. Mobile apps have exploded and the industry will require well trained programmers for years to come” says Kevin Francis, CEO of Centerbeam in Sunnyvale, California.
McGraw says the new Atlantica@Home Real-Time Virtual Campus will allow top trainers in the field to teach new programmers throughout North America, in real time. “We believe with today's technology we can properly educate the new wave of developers that are needed to address the shortage.”
Atlantica’s John Case says “The Real-Time Virtual Campus combines the most effective elements of traditional education in a way that hasn't been possible online before. The campus delivers an immersive, traditional classroom experience anywhere that has an internet connection.” Students attend structured, scheduled classes; interact, collaborate and learn together in real-time under the guidance of full-time instructors. “It's not just online learning, it's learning online” says McGraw.
The Mobile Application Developer program is launching September 10.
