I am native to Saint John, New Brunswick and I now currently reside there, after travelling and living in various locations around the world. It was over the span of one year that I brainstormed this story. I always had an interest in Partridge Island growing up and I feel that it is Saint John's best kept secret, possibly in all of Canada as well. We have so many rich pieces of history in Saint John and Partridge Island by far, is the most richest of all. This is how I came to write A Maritime Tale.
A Maritime Tale is a fictional story I wrote based on significant points in Saint John's history. I have chosen these specific time periods and incorporated fictional characters. We are now able to experience these difficult and trying times, through the eyes of those who lived through it. Chapter 1 starts in Ireland in 1847 during The Great Famine and follows a young boy named Liam, his Irish Terrier named Murphy, and his parents. They have to leave Ireland in hopes of a new life. They eventually land on Partridge Island and in the end, Liam and Murphy and left to fend for themselves in a whole new world.
I have plans to eventually write a book and have it published. I am going to complete a video trilogy entitled Chapter's 1, 2, & 3. Then plans for the book shall commence. Chapter 1 & 2 are now available for viewing on YouTube. Chapter 3 is slated for a release later this year. Chapter 1 was originally released a year ago. This is the Special Revised Edition. My vision as it was meant to be.
I hope that you will embrace this story and fall in love with it as much as I have. Liam and Murphy may very well be fictional characters but here is my question for you. Do you truly believe there was once a young boy and his dog who landed on Partridge Island and came to Saint John in hopes of a new life? I'll leave that to your imagination as they certainly exist in mine.
